“Culture of China, Dance of LA”— 2009 Chinese Folk Dance Show and Chinese Youth Folk Dance Championship Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony was held on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, starting from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
For the purpose of encouraging and supporting the young American Chinese group to learn about Chinese folk dance in Southern California, Chinese Culture Development Center held the first “Los Angeles Chinese Youth Folk Dance Championship” in May, 2009. The event has won its huge supports and participation from Chinese folk dancers and Chinese communities from all over the country. The competition brought to the fore many talented young artists who win high praise from the professional judges. The competition promoted the culture exchange between American and Chinese by the creation of a good communication environment for Chinese folk dance schools and artists.
To celebrate the successful holding of “2009 Chinese Youth Folk Dance Championship” and also to commend the winner artists and groups, Chinese Culture Development Center hosted the Culture of China, Dance of LA 2009 Chinese Folk Dance Show and Chinese Youth Folk Dance Championship Presentation Ceremony on the evening of August 23rd, 2009. Audiences enjoyed the winner’s performing pieces from our young artists; meanwhile, a delegation of professional artists from Beijing Dance Academy, the top Chinese folk dance educational institution, also presented their classical pieces of work at the ceremony.
